Treasurer’s report for year ending 31 December 2024

Paws and Claws Puerto Vallarta had its first full year of operation in 2024.  Donations increased substantially compare with 2023 from $16,832 to $48,504, close to a factor of 3.  We started the year with a balance of $8,754 and finished the year with a balance of $12,107.

During 2024 we continued our focus on spay & neuter clinics, animal shelter expenses and vet treatment costs.  Predominantly those expenses were associated with spay and neuter activities with the Cuale Clinic completing a total of 1,670 surgeries, up from 239 in 2024.  We have continued to fund their regular monthly clinics but the extra funding has allowed them to offer secondary smaller clinics each month as well as pop-up clinics at various more remote locations.

We also continued to support animal shelters and have expanded this activity to provide to provide food and litter to 3 animal shelters, as well as taking steps to establish a food bank for distributing food to small local animal rescuers.

We have also been able to expand our vet treatment program, where we cover the vet fees for initial treatment/medicines for animals rescued by animal rescuers.  In total we assisted 5 rescuers with vet costs for more than 70 animals.  We plan to commence support for additional veterinarian clinics in order to satisfy the demand in other areas of Puerto Vallarta.  To maintain control of expenses under this program we established a short list of approved rescuers able to access support.  This has worked well and we plan to expand this list in 2025 as funding levels increase.

We have made every effort to keep our administration costs as low as possible.  Unfortunately, there will always be costs associated with money transfer from the USA to Mexico, and we have ongoing costs associated with our registered agent and Colorado state filings.

The table below summarizes the income and expenses for 2024.
