About us

Paws and Claws Puerto Vallarta is a registered 501(c)(3) charity (#30-1342697) committed to ensuring that dogs and cats in the Vallarta area lead a life free from the pain and suffering of abandonment and neglect. We aim to achieve our mission by financially supporting rescue, shelter, sterilization, adoption, and fostering activities.  In addition, we will support community education to achieve a long-term solution to the problem of abandoned, abused and neglected animals.  Much of our financial support will be directed toward the many animal welfare individuals and smaller groups with limited or no financial support.

The Treasurer’s report for year ending 31 December 2023 can be found here.

Paws and Claws Puerto Vallarta was formed by Ron Harner, a long-time animal advocate and donor, Glenda Bland, also a long-time animal advocate and coordinator of Cuale Spay and Neuter Clinics, and Dr. Juan Tamayo, well-known local veterinarian and animal lover. They are supported by an Advisory Committee which is in constant touch with the needs of the community of rescuers, shelters, and spay and neuter clinics.
